The 4 F’s Project

The 4 F’s Project also known as Fun Fit Friendly Friday was developed in 2015 and updated in 2021 by April Thompson, with children and families health and nutrition, exercise and sports, as well as building up positive character development and growing leaders in our community. This curriculum was developed with children in mind.

We created a child-centered curriculum keeping the child and the families in mind for their future lives. Helping them to understand why it is so important to eat fruits and veggies as we know that it promotes muscle strength and cuts down on sports-related injuries, helps with the food dessert that our community is currently facing because it teaches the children to learn how to grow their veggies, it helps promote character development and leadership skills by introducing the 6 pillars of character referenced from Drake University Character Counts article.

Welcome to our 1st Brand Ambassador, D1 Volleyball Player Sopheea Mink! Sopheea will be in N.C. in July, meet her and Register for our Reading camp and participate in a free Volleyball Clinic as a bonus.

Big News from A Joyous Transition Inc.!

We’re excited to share several powerful updates that reflect the growth, impact, and momentum behind our 4 F’s Project- Fun, Fit, Friendly, Friday- a youth-centered Initiative focused on wellness, character, development, and community engagement through sports, mentorship, and leadership building.

SAMSHA Grant Awarded

We’re honored to announce that A Joyous Transition Inc. has been awarded a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)! This Grant will support the mental wellness components of our 4 F’s programming, particularly in underserved communities. This funding allows us to expand trauma-informed support, create safe spaces for open conversations about mental health, and integrate evidence-based tools into our youth athletic workshops. It is a huge step toward our mission to empower young people with tools for resilience and long term wellbeing.

UNCG Spartan Service Day- August 23rd, 2025

We’re thrilled to once again participate in Spartan Service Day with the students and volunteers of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). This year, students will join us to assemble wellness kits for youth in local low-performing schools, create mental health awareness vlogs related to sports and character development, and engage in community talks about youth empowerment and leadership

While originally planned for this summer, our highly anticipated “Burgers, Jeans & Lemonade” Fundraiser has been rescheduled for May 2026-and trust us, it’s going to be even bigger and better!

This event will bring together community leaders, youth advocates, and generous donors for an evening of food, fun, and purpose-all to raise funds for the 4 F’s Project’s year-round programming. Stay tuned for the new confirmed date and details- your support will help us give 100 + youth free access to sports, wellness, and mentorship. Together, we are building stronger kids, stronger families, and stronger communities-one Friday at a time!
